Following on from the huge 50th anniversary screenings of 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY in 2018, we are excited to be presenting TWO SHOWS ONLY of the new 70mm print of Kubrick’s groundbreaking science fiction epic in our massive 80 year old Ritz Cinema One this Feb. A true photochemical film recreation, this print was struck from new printing elements made from the original camera negative. There are no digital tricks, remastered effects, or revisionist edits. This is the original film - that recreates the cinematic event that audiences experienced fifty years ago.

“2001: A Space Odyssey is one of the greatest and most radical cinematic experiences of all time. I consider it a great privilege to be involved in offering that experience to a new generation of moviegoers in its original analogue glory.” – Christopher Nolan

Stanley Kubrick’s dazzling, Academy Award®-winning* achievement is a compelling drama of man vs. machine, a stunning meld of music and motion. Kubrick (who co-wrote the screenplay with Arthur C. Clarke) first visits our prehistoric ape-ancestry past, then leaps millennia (via one of the most mind-blowing jump cuts ever) into colonized space, and ultimately whisks astronaut Bowman (Keir Dullea) into uncharted space, perhaps even into immortality. “Open the pod bay doors, HAL.” Let an awesome journey unlike any other begin.
